Farm-to-Cafeteria Conference - Nov. 5

This post expired on October 11, 2010.

Dear Friends:

We are happy to inform you of a peninsula-wide Farm-to-Cafeteria Conference being planned for November 5, 2009 from 10:00 – 4:00 at the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s Community Center in Blyn. Lunch is included.

The purpose of the conference is to increase awareness of the important role that Farm-to-Cafeteria programs can play in food systems, local economies, and community health and to discuss workable options for beginning Farm-to-Cafeteria programs on the peninsula now!

You may go to www.clallamgrown.org for more details and to register online.

The target audience for this conference is both school district personnel and other community leaders. Success stories from around the Pacific Northwest show that Farm-to-Cafeteria programs are capable of providing significant economic and social benefits to the communities in which they exist. Many of us on the planning committee for this conference have been inspired by these success stories and have often wished that the many key decision-makers in our communities could be exposed to this information.

Of course, between tight budgets and tight schedules, it would be very difficult to get so many people from the community to a conference off the peninsula – so we are bringing the conference to you! Thanks to our sponsors and generous donations from the public, the cost is FREE!

In addition to learning more about what Farm-to-Cafeteria is and how other communities are benefiting from it, you will learn about some very exciting projects that are already beginning to happen here on the peninsula, and what you can do to support them.

We realize that your time is very valuable and that your calendars for November are already filling. So, please take a moment to check out conference details and to register online at www.clallamgrown.org. We sincerely believe that this conference will be worth the investment of your time.

Thanks,
